WMKC Round 1 Write Up

With five of our team heading into battle at the season opener for WMKC at Whilton Mill in 2021 this past weekend, it was not going to be an easy task.

There were plenty of ups and downs during the day, but the determination from everyone never faded, and we never gave up.

With over 250 drivers there, we did our level best and fight hard over the course of the day’s proceedings.

In Junior Rotax, Kai Bachini, Jacob Jukes and Will Young all managed to give as good as they got, with Kai ending up P15 in the final with a best result of P11 in Heat 2. Jacob would end up being top novice and storm to P8 in the Final, on his first ever MSUK-sanctioned event.

Will would take his best finish of p12 in Heat 2 behind Kai, but he learnt a hell of a lot in this kind of close-fought competition, ending up P24 in the final.

Brad Philpot and Jonny Elliott would be back with us again in Senior Rotax, with Brad placing P10 & P13 in Heats 2 & 3, and was not out of the top 20 all day long, but due to a suspected cracked rib, he would opt to not race in the final.

Jonny is still putting in his best efforts to get back up to speed after several years away from karting outdoors, but the motivation and the will to push forward is ever present, even with the struggles out on track, ending up with a best result of P23 in Heat 3, taking 31st at the chequered in the final.

We’re still a new team and we learn together as a karting family - we’ll be moving forward, wherever we race next…..

Thanks to Whilton Mill for hosting and we are looking forward to racing at this track again soon!
