Bradley Philpot – “The kart was great out of the box!”
“The kart was great out of the box, actually, and we haven’t had to make any major changes. I’ve requested a small set of set-up tweaks, which worked immediately, which is always nice to see."
We were pleased to welcome along racing driver Bradley Philpot to our official launch and test event day at Whilton Mill in late September, allowing us to get some welcome feedback for the new X-Kart chassis.
The Bedford-based driver, who currently runs in the 750 Motor Club Roadsports series in the Avon Tyres Lotus Exige, has a wealth experience as a two-time VLN Touring Car champion with NETT Motorsport in 2018 and 2019, being the winner of the Race of Champions Skills Challenge in 2015 and taking victory at the Silverstone 24H a year later.
He admitted that he doesn’t normally frequent the world of two-stroke karting, but in his words, it was “a great day all round.”
“First of all, really grateful to the guys from X-Kart for inviting me down for the day. It was probably the ideal test day when you’ve got all the different conditions that you could possibly have all combined into one test day,” stated Philpot, who showed good pace from the start at Whilton Mill.
“The kart was great out of the box, actually, and we haven’t had to make any major changes. I’ve requested a small set of set-up tweaks, which worked immediately, which is always nice to see.
“A testament to the kart itself and the way these guys have set the kart up, that made it so easy to do that. All in all, really pleased with the day, and the kart stayed on the track almost always. Certainly no major incidents out there, but a great day all round.
“And I have to say that this kart is really comfortable to drive from the outset, so to be able to jump back in and get back on the pace pretty much straight away, I’m quite pleased with that.”
We at X-Kart would like to say a big thank you to Bradley for joining us and accepting our invitation to come and try out the chassis, and wish him all the very best in his racing for the rest of the season.
